Breeding & Foals

The 2013 breeding season, our first, was highly successful!  Four foals blessed our farm in March and April, welcomed to the farm as Alexander P’s first offspring!  We could not have been more proud, as the comments from our recent RPSI inspection stated that he had improved movement and conformation in all of his offspring. Here are early photos, and a little about each broodmare.

Aphrodite B, aka “Parris”, born Feb 28th, was a special arrival.  Alexander P’s first foal, and a lovely little (not so little really!) red-headed filly.    Her dam, Gorgeous Grace, is a 5 year old out of Dutch Warmblood, Torino. Torino is a son of champion international showjumper Heartbreaker (Cassini I).  Gorgeous Grace’s Thoroughbred Dam is Video Active, and is Grand Sired by Nijinski, the 1964 Kentucky Derby winner. Her pedigree also holds Northern Dancer on both sides and Princequillo, whose descendants include Secretariat and Seattle Slew.  Parris recently received a “Silver Premium” rating at her RPSI inspection.  She is an elegant filly, with a giant canter and lovely trot.

“Azzaria”, came into the world five days later, on March 5th.  This special filly is the first foal from our retired performance Danish Warmblood mare, Too Easy.  Too Easy was imported from Denmark, and competed up to Level 6 jumpers prior to becoming a beloved teacher for her low-level amatuer owner. Her sire, Castro (Calypso I), also sired Solos Carex, who was individually 12th at the 2008 Olympics in Dressage. Solos Carex is the sire of Scandic, 14th individually at the 2012 Olympics in Dressage.  Aside from the Cor De La Bryere line, Too Easy’s pedigree also holds Langraf and Dolomit/Donauwind.  Azzaria recently received a “Silver Premium” rating at her RPSI inspections.  Jumper? Dressage? Many great choices for her future!

Aston B, a curious, playful and bold filly was our next arrival ! She was born on March 25th, and earned her name by immediately racing around her stall for an hour before paying any attention to mom. Aston’s dam, Ace of Hearts, is a 4 year old mare out of Hessen Holsteiner, Lotus Ass (means Ace in German!) and an unknown Canadian mare. “Lotus” currently competes with his amateur owner up to 1.3M, after importing to the US in 2007.  His German breeding is impeccable,  carrying Landgraf/Landadel, Grannus and Ramiro Z.  It is no wonder our little filly is already the sporty type!  Aston B also received a “Silver Premium” at the RPSI inspection.

Our fourth arrival was finally a colt!  Congratulations to owner Nicole Torchia, whose colt, “Ares”,  was born late in the night March 31st. Ares is incredibly playful, and very much a boy! His Dam, Heart of Gold, is an American Warmblood by Fuerst  Grayheart (Fuerst Gotthard) out of Raja’s Little Goldie xx.  Born a beautiful chestnut, at  9 months he is already beginning to grey!
